Best Concealed Carry Belts Buying Guide

Not sure what you need?

Read our buyer’s guide to pinpoint the factors you should be thinking about when making this purchase!

Materials

Good quality materials should be high on your priority list; specifically, higher-end materials and double stitching on the belt ensures the belt lasts and provides you with everything you need.

Leather and nylon (scuba webbing) are the two primary materials when looking for a concealed carry belt. There are variations of leather and nylon to choose from, so you can find the one that will best suit you.

Buckles

An integral part of any belt is its buckle. There are many types, but today we will be looking at four of the most common and how they operate.

Traditional buckles are the most common, particularly on leather belts. You will have a set of eyelets that the prong goes through to keep the belt in place. Traditional buckles provide you with the security that the belt won’t loosen as the day goes on.

Slide (Tension) buckles use tension to keep the belt snug. It can be easily adjusted on the fly keeping the belt comfortable and in place all day.

Track work similarly, with the track on the belt’s backside to lock it into place. Some people do find that a little fiddly to reach and fasten into place.

Cobra buckles are the most common in tactical belts. It locks the belt into place and does not release until you want to. Some cobra buckles do not fit into belt loops easily. It can be a challenge to find one that fits inside standard belt loops, so bear that in mind!

Rigid

Having a rigid carry belt is so important! There are two main reasons for this.

The first is that it will keep everything from sagging. A gun will add weight to your belt, causing the belt and trousers to sag over time. A rigid belt should help avoid sagging, keeping everything where it should be.

Leading on from that, a rigid belt will help keep everything firmly in place. This will avoid you needing to adjust your belt in public and leaves your gun ready where you left it when you need to draw.

Be sure to look out for a belt that offers excellent rigidity.

Comfort

If you are wearing a belt every day, you don’t need us to tell you that comfort needs to be one of your priorities.

Although it may not sound like it, if you have never used a concealed carry belt before, they can be surprisingly comfortable! We know, who would have thought it?

Comfort is a personal preference again; you may, for example, find leather the most comfortable belt to wear. Be sure to make sure that the belt has all you require, and you will be good to go!

Style

This will come down to personal preference, but similarly to comfort, if you are wearing a belt every day, it’s worth making sure you like it.

Typically if you are concealed carrying, the likelihood is no-one will see your belt. Some tuck holsters will expose your belt, but why not spend your hard-earned money on a belt you like the look of?

This is, of course, a personal choice, so pick the one you like! The style might not be high on your priority list, but if it is a concern, consider the color and material when purchasing, so you know that you will feel comfortable and stylish no matter what you wear.

How Much?

Price can vary when looking for the best concealed carry belt, so be sure to set a budget before beginning your search to avoid any shocks later on.

It’s worth thinking about what is important to you in regards to the belt. Think about the above factors so you can create a budget that will best fit these needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Some questions you still need answers to?

Check the FAQ section out below!

What is a Concealed Carry Belt?

A concealed carry belt is a belt that will provide you with a concealed carry of your gun.

Designed to sit on your body as any other belt would, gun belts are specifically designed to carry your gun and holster’s extra weight discreetly.

The belt will usually be thicker and more robust than a regular belt. To deal with this, be sure to check out our buyer’s guide to know what to look for!

They will offer your holster and gun space to sit, allowing you room to conceal carry, and often with the added style of a nice belt.

Do I Need a Concealed Carry Belt?

As we mentioned earlier, a concealed carry belt is designed to carry a gun and holster in mind. Compared to other standard belts, a concealed carry belt will be stronger and stiffer to hold your gun in place without damaging your belt.

Standard belts are designed to keep your pants in place and tighten them if needs be. When you add the additional weight of a gun and holster, that will add pressure to your belt.

The belt won’t have been made usually with strong enough materials, so the added weight will cause the belt to sag or the gun and holster to move around a great deal. This means a looser fit for yourself, and let’s face it, a lot of rearranging throughout the day!

A gun belt will be more robust like we mentioned earlier, designed to carry that extra weight and keep it in place securely and comfortably.

You can even wear the gun belt without the gun in place, so those on a tighter budget don’t need to worry about a belt they may not get much use out of! Pick a style and color that suits, and you are good to go.
